Ricardo De la Riva Week
Sorry for the start of the video where they are trying to set the guys up to show the jiu-jitsu technique but none the less this is a great sweep from the guard. It also looks easy to do. Ricardo De la Riva shows us how to stretch the opponent out in order to effectively complete the sweep.

Ricardo De la Riva Week
In this video Ricardo De la Riva shows us a sweep from the open guard. In jiu-jitsu you will find yourself often with your guard open. You will have to open your guard in BJJ in order to attack. Make sure to make the right grips on the opponents gi or you will not do the sweep the right way.

Demian Maia Week
Getting out of side control in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. This can be a hard thing to do in bjj. Demian Maia shows us how to set your opponent off balance so you are able to get yourself out from under your opponent. Love how he breaks down how to move your opponents head. Little details in jiu-jitsu go a long way. Demian Maia will be in the octagon against Dan Miller at UFC 109 this Saturday.

This video is great. Damian Maia talks about jiu-jitsu in short interview at the beginning. The video goes on to as he rolls lightly in the gi with on of his students in BJJ. Then Maia goes on to show us highlights of his strength and conditioning program. Finally a clip of him teaching no gi. He looks so young in the last clip. Maia takes Dan Miller at UFC 109 on February 6 2010.

Demian Maia Week
Demian Maia in this video takes the time to break down the triangle choke. I have found that the little adjustments made to the triangle choke has made the difference in me catching someone in the choke and not catching them. That is how jiu-jitsu goes though, the slightest movement can make or break you. Breaking the opponent down at the elbow in order to bring the arm across is important, how many time do we get stuck trying to get that arm across our body. Check out Saturday's post of Maia highlight reel at about 37 seconds he performs a nice triangle choke on his opponent. Maia takes on Dan Miller at UFC 109 this Saturday.

Demian Maia Week
Demian Maia versus Gabriel Napao at the World Jiu-Jitsu Tournament. At the beginning of the match you can see as Maia defends the guard pass as you saw in the previous video that I posted. Maia looks so comfortable on his back and it seems as though he spends nearly the entire match there working his guard. Maia takes the the back at the end of the match and nearly pulls off a nice collar choke. Look for Maia at UFC 109 as he takes on Dan Miller.
Demian Maia Week
Demian Maia's Science of Jiu-Jitsu is a great set of instructional videos. In this segment of the video Maia teaches us on how to defend ourselves from someone passing our guard. At the start of the video the theory of keeping your hips in a straight line with your opponent is key. After watching this video my guard game has become so much better. Oh yeas people still pass it but from what it was to what it is now the improvement from this one tip has been great. Maia takes Dan Miller at UFC 109 on February 6 2010.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructors
In the upcoming weeks Jiu-Jitsu Educcation is going to focus on the different Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructors and fighters. Now you may not see alot of Gracie's in the next few weeks but you will see some of their students who have moved on to become instructors themselves. The next few weeks will be fun here at Jiu-Jitsu Education, I for one get back into my own training after some time off due to an neck injury. But best of all you will get some instructional videos from different styles and you will be able to also see them in action on the mat in jiu-jitsu tournaments or in mmma fights.
I always think that it is best to learn from all different people. Especially now in this day and age when you can have access to many people way of teaching BJJ, why not take advantage of it. This is what Jiu-Jitsu Education is all about. I am here to find some of the best videos out there and help you improve and reach your goals. I am taking the hard work out of it for you by sifting through countless videos that may not be good and putting the best out there for you. Enjoy the next couple of weeks as they will be a great learning experience for both you and I.
