I have found that the little adjustments made to the triangle choke has made the difference in me catching someone in the choke and not catching them. That is how jiu-jitsu goes though, the slightest movement can make or break you. Breaking the opponent down at the elbow in order to bring the arm across is important, how many time do we get stuck trying to get that arm across our body. Check out Saturday's post of Maia highlight reel at about 37 seconds he performs a nice triangle choke on his opponent. In this segment of the video Maia teaches us on how to defend ourselves from someone passing our guard. At the start of the video the theory of keeping your hips in a straight line with your opponent is key. After watching this video my guard game has become so much better. Oh yeas people still pass it but from what it was to what it is now the improvement from this one tip has been great. Now you may not see alot of Gracie's in the next few weeks but you will see some of their students who have moved on to become instructors themselves. The next few weeks will be fun here at Jiu-Jitsu Education, I for one get back into my own training after some time off due to an neck injury. But best of all you will get some instructional videos from different styles and you will be able to also see them in action on the mat in jiu-jitsu tournaments or in mmma fights.
I always think that it is best to learn from all different people. Especially now in this day and age when you can have access to many people way of teaching BJJ, why not take advantage of it. This is what Jiu-Jitsu Education is all about. I am here to find some of the best videos out there and help you improve and reach your goals. I am taking the hard work out of it for you by sifting through countless videos that may not be good and putting the best out there for you. Enjoy the next couple of weeks as they will be a great learning experience for both you and I.

Royce Gracie Interview #4

Sorry for the skipped day but here is the last part of the interview with Royce Gracie. Also many new to the sport find to have some kind of anxiety of going to their class and rolling. These are all concerns for new students in jiu-jitsu.
There is alot to learn when you first start out taking jiu-jitsu. When I started, it was all no gi classes and I would get killed on the mat on a daily basis. I ended up stopping my jiu-jitsu training. A couple of years later I went back to training in jiu-jitsu but with the gi only and I love it.
When I started training again I would simplify the move. When practicing on the mat you should do the same thing. If they teach you an armbar from the mount break the move up into parts as you train it. Now you won't master the move your first night or even after taking a hundred classes. Step by step take each part of the move as you do it and focus on making sure that your positioning is right and that you are following the steps as closely as your teacher was when he or she was teaching the move. This will help you out in the long run as when you begin to roll live these movements will be embedded in your brain and you will be able to control you and your opponents movements.

80 Jiu-Jitsu Techniques in 8 minutes? Enjoy and once again Happy New Year!!

http://www.ehow.com/videos-on_1960_gracie-brazilian-jujitsu-moves.html

Armbar Drill

This video highlights several variations of the armbar in jiu jitsu and the different transitions from one to the other. Just want to let everyone know what Jiu Jitsu Education will be delivering to you. Each week here at Jiu Jitsu Education video will be posted on Jiu Jitsu technique. So say for instance you want to learn how to do an armbar. One week will be dedicated to finding you videos that will teach you how to effectively do an armbar, how to set one up and how to counter an armbar if you are caught in one. That is just a small example of what the site will offer. If you already train Jiu Jitsu and just want to watch video so you can go to class and work on new techniques or if you just want to learn at home how to effectively use Jiu Jitsu then this is the place to look. There will also be opportunity to tell me what technique you would like to see for the week.
